Run the newsroom

Commissioning, writing and publishing in one place — with the mailbox that everything arrives in wired into the same queue, so press releases and tip-offs become assignments instead of unread mail.

How it works

From an email nobody has read to a story in print and online.

01

It arrives

Tip-offs, press releases, club notices and letters land in the mastheads’ public inboxes, as they always have. Xpressly watches those mailboxes so nobody has to keep an eye on them.

02

It gets sorted

Incoming mail is read and classified — a council media release, an event notice, a letter to the editor, a story pitch — and turned into an assignment with the attachments already in place.

03

It gets assigned

The Editor Desk shows everything waiting: what came in, what is being written, what is late. An editor assigns it to a journalist, or a journalist claims it.

04

It gets written

Journalists write in the CMS with the brief and source material attached. Bylines come from your author list, so contributors and columnists without logins still get credited properly.

05

It goes to web

Publish immediately or schedule it. Web publishing is tracked separately from print, so a story can be live online while still waiting for the paper — or the other way round.

06

It goes to print

Approved stories are allocated to editions and pages, ready for layout. The same article, written once.
